Driving staff
As part of the interview and induction procedures, all prospective members of driving staff undertake a test drive with the transport manager, in addition to regular monitoring during employment.
All staff must hold the appropriate driving licence for the class of vehicles they drive which is checked, copied and signed on a quarterly schedule in line with industry best industry procedures.
All driving staff must undertake regular medicals to hold a PSV licence. The expiry date for these medicals is checked at the same time as the driving licence review to ensure full compliance.
It is a requirement that all staff undergo an enhanced DBS check with strict procedures in place to review and update them in line with the terms set out by the Local Authorities we work with.
Vehicles
Seat belts must be worn at all times. Creigiau Travel Ltd complies to the Department of Transport – Seat belt regulations.
All vehicles carry a first aid kit. Each kit is sealed and any items used are replaced before the kit is checked, dated and re-sealed.
All vehicles must carry a fire extinguisher. Each extinguisher is sealed so that we know if it has been used. It is part of the driver’s daily checks to ensure that the extinguisher is in place and sealed. The fire extinguisher is also checked as part of the regular preventative maintenance inspections, along with vehicle signage.
The maintenance of our vehicles is of prime importance. As a precondition of our operator’s licence, vehicles undertake preventative maintenance inspections every 6 weeks which are carried out to the highest industry standards by PSV mechanics.
The company operates a NIL defect reporting system as recommended by the DVSA. Daily reports are made for each vehicle so that any defects can be identified and rectified.
Each coach is provided with a safety pack to include a Hi Visibility Safety Vest and Hazard Warning Triangle.
Each vehicle is supplied with a body fluids spillage kit. The contents of these kits are checked on a regular basis.
